Knowing who you are as a Christian

NARRATOR: (Walks slowly and comes to a stop). In this life we’re living in, there are three major scenarios; 

When you don’t know who you are,…… 

(Music banging loudly) 

JANE: You’ve been sitting on this chair since we entered this place. Shey you won’t dance ni? 

GLORIA: I didn’t hear you (talks loudly and squints at Jane) 

JANE: Make we go dance na, you just dey sidon for here since morning (She pulls Gloria from her chair to the dance floor.)

GLORIA: You know say I no sabi…… 

JANE: (Freezes) Gloria, look! (she points behind Gloria) 

Gloria turned to see six hefty men coming their direction. “What were they here for? Who did they come for? Why were they headed their…….”

Two of the men came at her sides and forcefully grabbed her arms…

GLORIA: Jane! No!!!!

JANE: Gloria! (she turns to look around) Somebody, help!

No one moved. Everyone stood still. They were all taken by surprise. Gloria felt her blood turning cold. What was going on? Where were they taking her to?

GLORIA: Jane, I don’t know what’s happening…

JANE: What was your offence? Why did they beat you like this? Look at your face! 

GLORIA:(weeping profusely) I don’t know what to say. I thought He said He’ll never forsake me! So where was He when these thugs were beating me up

JANE: Gloria, don’t talk like tha…..

GLORIA: Like what? Oh! I forgot. He probably helped me and I still got beaten!!!!!! (she replies sarcastically)

NARRATOR: (Frowns and takes another step)

………When you know who you are, but are not sure of what to do.….. 

GLORIA: You know say I no sabi…… 

JANE: (Freezes) Gloria, look! (she points behind Gloria) 

Gloria turned to see six hefty men coming their direction. She squinted. I’ve heard about these guys before, the ones who come to steal, kill and destr…. 

JANE: Gloria! No!!!!! 

GLORIA: (sweating) Don’t panic, Jane. I’ll be alright. 

They led her outside. She didn’t know exactly where they were taking her to, but she tried to make sure fear stayed far from her. They’d reached outside and Gloria broke free. She elbowed the two guys holding her, jumped and spun in the air and the fight began. In about 2 minutes, she had taken all of them down. 

JANE: Gloria! How did you do that?? 

GLORIA: (she smiled) The One who lives in me is the greatest of all.

Gloria is seen taking care of all her wounds… 

GLORIA: (looks up at something imaginary, with tears in her eyes) Just take a look at me! I thought you were helping me all this while. Just see how body is decorated with scars. The last time I fought, I barely came out alive, and they keep coming back!! I think I’m loosing it.

NARRATOR: (sighs) (walks silently for a few seconds)

…………and then, there’s when you know who you are, and are sure of what to do. 

……..One hour earlier….. 

ELOHIM: Sweetie, there’s going to be a raid today, and they would come for you. Do you copy? 

GLORIA: Aiye sir.

(Music banging loudly)

GLORIA: (looks back) Oh! I’ll be right back, Jane. 

Gloria walked towards the hefty men and faced the leader of the squad. 

GLORIA: (raises her eyebrow) I hope you’re not here for me.

LEADER: (chuckles) I see you have control of a larger army

GLORIA: Oh! You see well. I’d advise you get out of here, now! 

Gloria turned back and headed back to friend, to the dance floor. This time around, she was going to dance.

NARRATOR: (takes two steps and stops) You see, it is very important to know who you are and know how to live this life. When you don’t know, you keep loosing. The devil will keep taking advantage of you and you’ll keep being a victim, blaming God for leaving you. God never leaves us, that’s why He has given us the greatest gift, the HolySpirit, who will guide us to the knowledge of what to do.

And that’s where many of us miss it. We try to run with the power of the HolySpirit and forget about the Person, who is supposed to communicate with us. Because you can’t do anything without Him (The person of the HolySpirit), that power is short-lived. It’s important to fight, ! But if you don’t fight the right way, the way God wants to, you’ll end up fighting unnecessary battles. Effective communication is key. At this point, we know who we are and what to do because this GUIDE tells us what to do. Remember God has given us everything we need for Life and Godliness, but all these mysteries can only be revealed by the HolySpirit.

[these are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. For who knows a person’s thoughts except their own spirit within them? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God.]

And that’s where many of us miss it. We try to run with the power of the HolySpirit and forget about the Person, who is supposed to communicate with us

At the end day, true victory doesn’t really come from fighting. t comes from understanding who you are in Christ. The Bible says we’re more than Conquerors in Christ.
